{"id":696,"date":"2023-05-26T15:06:42","date_gmt":"2023-05-26T15:06:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.deejayplaza.com\/en\/?p=696"},"modified":"2024-08-19T21:46:55","modified_gmt":"2024-08-19T19:46:55","slug":"need-rekordbox-for-cdjs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.deejayplaza.com\/en\/articles\/need-rekordbox-for-cdjs","title":{"rendered":"Do I need Rekordbox to play music on CDJs?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Technically speaking, you don&#8217;t have to use Rekordbox to use USB drives on a CDJ, however &#8230; I wouldn&#8217;t rely on it to work.<br>You might run into some unexpected problems!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You see, CDJs are basically glorified &#8220;MP3&#8221; players that support a variety of file formats.<br>The CDJ analyzes the music file, but this slow and often <strong>not <\/strong>correct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, <em>don&#8217;t expect any DJ specific features to work<\/em>, like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Accurate tempo information<\/strong><br>And thus Master Tempo and Beat Sync won&#8217;t work properly<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Accurate Beat grid<\/strong><br>And thus don&#8217;t expect a bar to start on the first beat<br>And don&#8217;t expect Quantize to work<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Accurate song key information<\/strong><br>Detection is often wrong\/non-existent and not in Camelot notation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fast loading of songs<\/strong><br>Analyzing can take a couple of seconds.<br>Loaded the wrong track?
